Without knowing what your student ought to learn, you don't know what you ought to assess... and likewise if your students don't know what they should learn, they cannot prepare for assessment (they don't know what you going to assess...) How simple logic and common sense. The trouble is, we sometimes have problem to define, what ought to be learned, or how to assess it, or how to communicate the objective...
